Google the rolled out an AI spam update to remove AI content and thin pages with little content. ChatGPT is on the verge of launching their own branded “search engine” which may exceed the current quality of Google’s SERPs.
There was a “leak” of 14,000 potential ranking factors Google has documented. Google typically doesn’t acknowledged that it’s algorithm uses or doesn’t use certain ranking factors. I’ve seen and heard at many conferences Google representatives deny, spin or over the past two decades experiments by SEOs showed that Google did, at some point, used hundreds if not thousands to tabulate Google’s core algorithm.
Here is the good news for small business owners: Google uses different algorithms for Search and Google Maps. Any updates to the Google Maps algorytm seemed to be minor if there were amu updates. Google is also making plans to steer more of its visitors towards the Google Ads ads (Google’s #1 revenue stream) that take up quite a bit of space on the 1st page.
